My 'official' theme - One world, one hope, one love.

I'm not sure, as a newbie writer, that I should confess how difficult it is to find words to express how powerful this video is for me.  The video itself explores the idea that we all carry around our stories wherever we go.  How can we ever judge someone in a split second without knowing where they've come from, what they're going through and where they're headed?

The song itself blends into U2's song "One".  To me, the lyrics invoke the theme of One World, One Hope, which was not only the theme of the landmark 1996 International AIDS Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia but also the title of the iconic image painted for the conference by Vancouver treasure Joe Average.

Isn't it magnificent?

Years ago there was an episode of Ally McBeal when her psychiatrist told Ally she should have a theme song. I think that's wonderful advice!  Though I'm not sure I could name just ONE song as a personal theme, this video definitely encompasses what is important to me for this blog and for my writing.

What about you? Do you have a theme song?

  1. Lovely video, Jo, thanks for sharing that. I often do that in public places - stare at certain people with interesting faces and try to "write" them. Start by describing their appearance then tag on personality traits then imagine their lives. I've even been known to snap a pic of an unwary stranger to help me picture a character I'm writing, which is surprisingly easy to do in crowded places :-)
As for songs, I have my top 500 on my ipod each of which says something, I suppose.

    1. I do the same thing Chris! Each song does say something about you. Would love to compare lists one day:) Thank you so much for commenting.

  2. Loved the video. The song 'One' is a fav of mine. Some day I'll have to make a list of my top 100 songs and post them online.

    1. KD, that would be wonderful! As you know by now, I love finding out about people's tastes and interests in music. I really do think it tells a lot about a person. That said, I would find it difficult to contain my interests to 100 songs - but I bet you would/will too!

    2. It won't be too hard to trim it to 100 Jo. ;-)
There's only about 150 songs on my list. While I enjoy many, many more, the ones on my phone are there for a reason. I can listen to them over & over & over. They are the best of the best.

When you spend as much time on the road as I do, music in the background is important. It helps me relax. Perhaps I can add a little module to the site that people can click to choose one of my random top 100 songs to play. That would be kind of cool. ;-)

    3. KD, that would be very cool indeed. Alright, well I see a great challenge in this idea. I don't have a fancy phone or I-pod so I'll have to find another way to source & track my music but the list making starts today! Not too many from just one artist though - that's too easy. Can't wait to see if among all your rock, there is a disco number making an appearance (eg: Sylvester - Mighty Real, the ultimate disco!)

  3. Disco, ;-) Believe it or not... there is one.

I may not have time to work on this for a few days (work related stuff), but you can count on having your socks knocked off. ;-)
